Peugeot to Introduce iMiEV-Based EV, Two HYbrid4 Concepts at Frankfurt Show

On the heels of the recently-signed EV cooperation agreement between Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) and PSA Peugeot Citroën (earlier post), Peugeot will introduce the “iOn” EV—based on the Mitsubishi i-MiEV (earlier post)—at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor show.
With four doors and four seats, a length of 3.48 m and a turning circle of 4.50 m, the iOn all-electric Peugeot vehicle will develop a maximum power output of 47 kW (64 bhp) and a torque of 180 N·m, with a maximum speed of 130 km/h (81 mph). The lithium-ion battery pack supports a range of 130 km (81 miles) on the European cycle, and is rechargeable in six hours using a conventional 220 V socket or to 80% capacity within thirty minutes with a 50 kW quick charge.

Onboard, it will offer some innovative services based on a “localized communication unit”. This unit not only authorizes the emergency call system, but
also authorizes data transfer (battery status, distance covered, distance to
travel before maintenance is due, etc.) thus providing assistance in the
business management of fleet vehicles.
Peugeot called the iOn one of the key elements of its strategy to reduce its environmental footprint and dependence on fossil fuels. From the end of 2010 onwards, Peugeot plans:

The iOn coming at the end of 2010, as an all-electric vehicle for
everyday urban use.

The 3008 HYbrid4 (earlier post), arriving in spring 2011, offering a versatile range of use (147 kW / 200 bhp, 4-wheel drive, etc, with CO2 emissions reduced to 99g/km. Peugeot will show the concept 3008 HYbrid4 which prefigures the production model as well as an experimental RCZ HYbrid4 at the Frankfurt show.

These products will complete a range of combustion engines with some
even higher performance engine units in both diesel HDi FAP and gasoline
variants (VTi and THP technology); engines which are already particularly
well placed in their respective segments: the 107 with 106 g/km of CO2, the 207
with 99g, the 308 with 120g,the 3008 with 130g and the 407 with 129g.
Mitsubishi introduced the production version of its i-MiEV in June. Under the Japanese 10-15 cycle, the i-MiEV’s 16 kWh Li-ion battery pack supports a range of 160 km (99 miles), with average energy consumption of 125 Wh/km.
